The Creation

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. 3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. Didn't you say you were Catholic? There is definite evidence that God rested on the 7th day and contemplated His virgin birth. Then, another Day began, " the day that the Lord God created earth and heaven", Gen. 2:4. This is all long before Moses. The Lord God was, indeed, the gardener, as you say, because He looked around and saw that a Biosphere had yet to be created. In other words, a material manifestation. So, He began to work along these lines.

When you get out of your depth, then ask about it. It could prove enlightening :)

Hi Mark. Please don't see me as a heretic. I would never take issue with the Catholics because they have the greatest potential for redemption. I used to walk the Peripatetic with one of these back in the early 1990's, and he told me right away, "you are a free thinker, and this opposes my religion, which is the only true religion in the world".

Yet, there is always this fourth day of Creation:

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Hey Steve, To answer your first question I must say spiritual evolution is a big question but I would say it's primarily knowledge dependant. A spiritual evolution can be argued in time, centuries reveal what is physics.

I think God did not turn the job of gardening over to Lord God but Moses just referred to God in a general nomenclature, later He told Moses, I am who I am,

I am out of my depth when I think about positism/materialism has little effect on the divine plan the two are not related except in the context of sin.

Do you believe in an organized, systematic and functional spiritual evolution? In the first three chapters of Genesis, it can be demonstrated that God created the first seven days, and then turned the process of evolution over to a Lord God, who created the next five days, for a total of twelve days, and ending with the expulsion of Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden.

When you say, "The cosmos is God's creation to work in our reality", you speak from the most prescient authority base there is, which is your own experience. Everyone can testify to it if they simply try.

I am looking into this because of something that Owen Barfield coined, called: "Residue of Unresolved Positivism", which he attributes to Teilhard de Chardin, who is one of our exemplary agents in conveying a divine human evolution. As astute as Barfield is, there is a wrinkle that he might not have considered in seeing the importance of positivism/materialism in achieving the overall goals of the divine plan.
