Ordinarily I don’t publish so much poetry at Theoria-press, and instead try to provide mostly essays with an odd poem or sonnet occasionally interspersed among them.
Yet, August is the turning point wherein the stasis of Summer as the holding of the outbreath of Spring. and yielding the Midsummer's Dream, turns that corner of the Peripatetic toward the inbreathing of the individual soul and spirit toward self conscious realization. The Michael Impulse that assures resurrection of the Self.
I likely did not adduce enough about Max's sonnet. I am sorry for every loss of life. But, yes, there are birthdays, as well. Hegel's is August 27th, and 'yours truly' is August 15th. Lammas is an event that is important to me for certain reasons related very much to my mother. We had a conversation 24 years ago today, which more than touched the borders of the supersensible. It was about the experience that Peter/Cepheus had with Christ on the Sea of Tiberias forty days after the Resurrection.
So, Stephen, if I might ask: What is that supposed to mean in your biography about the month of August? It is, indeed, the third cross-quarter day of the year. Thanks for listening.
Thank you Max. August seems to be the cruelest month in my biography.

Thank you for your kind reminder! Made me also remember Goethe’s birthday on the 28th. My life partner and her mother both crossed over in August...
